Slowpokin', just got around to watching this week's Impact. The show was alright, just far, far too much Hogan. TNA badly needs some sort of second show to showcase the wealth of talent they now have, be it a replacement for Thursday's old slot, a new Saturday show, or even an internet show. I'm getting annoyed by how often angles get started, dropped, or omitted for weeks at a time simply because there isn't enough TV time to cram it all in. Hell, the tag champs didn't even make a single appearance, let alone be mentioned, so I can only imagine how confused new viewers might have been to see women's tag champs and no mention of traditional men's tag champs.
Nitpicking aside, I'm glad to hear MCMG Vs. Gen. Me in an Ultimate X Match is happening; I expect nothing but greatness from this match. Also nice to see the winners getting a tag title shot, so I can only hope that whoever wins beats Hernandez & Morgan, leading to their telegraphed break-up and subsequent feud. Shannon Moore debuting and usurping Kaz as #1 contender for the X-Division Title left a bad taste in my mouth initially, but I'll hold judgment until I see Moore wrestle Williams. If they put on a great match I'll be happy to see another good talent back in TNA, but if Moore shits up the joint, then I'll go back to my previous stance that Moore is mediocre at best, waste of talent at worst.
RVD debuting was neat, but Taz ruining the surprise beforehand was weak. Also, I got a good laugh over TNA letting RVD use that horrible entrance music he's been using on the Indies, like how he did at his PWG appearance. RVD Vs. Sting sounds like a bizarre yet fascinating match on paper, although it seems a Sting Vs. Hogan feud is brewing, so who knows if we'll get a legit Sting Vs. RVD match anytime soon. Pissed off Eric Young going ballistic on Waltman is entertaining as hell, so here's hoping Hall & Waltman show up to compete (finally) at Destination X, because Young, and to a lesser extent, Nash, won't be able to carry that match to decent and above levels by themselves.
Involving Tara in the three-way for the Knockouts Tag Titles was a bit lame, as it seemed to show that the Knockouts Division isn't as stacked as it used to be (so stacked to warrant two titles) when the singles champion is competing for the tag titles as well. Daffney getting a push is interesting, though; here's hoping she's improved enough in the ring over the years to put on a great match with Tara. No mention of Kong being gone from TNA was interesting, makes me wonder if they just granted her a release hoping cooler heads would prevail and she would want to come back in the future. Hamada not getting a new partner to defend her former title was odd, too, although I guess TNA just couldn't figure out who to have her tag with now that Kong is gone.
Still not sure what to make of the Jarrett angle, as I don't see what it will lead to. Typical answer would be a Jarrett Vs. Bischoff match, unpopular answer would be a title shot for Jarrett, and the likely answer will be that it leads to nothing and Jarrett goes on to feud with someone else in a couple months, if he doesn't disappear off TV again. Beer Money involved in a "worked shoot" type of angle is retarded (them mentioning not being used on TV, announcers mentioning them not being used on TV), as they should be feuding with Hernandez & Morgan over the Tag Titles. No mention of Team 3D or The Nasty Boys was odd, but I guess just chalk that up to "too many angles, not enough time".
Main event wasn't a train wreck, which is good, but please no more Flair & Hogan wrestling. Let them manage, get mixed up in matches every now and then, but no actual competing from those two. Desmond Wolfe helping Flair & AJ again has me excited, though, as I really hope they go on to form some type of faction, maybe with Sting as well? Obviously they would be the New Four Horsemen, but would need a different name, of course (The Player's Club?). Jeff Hardy appearing felt tacked-on, again, just like his appearance back in January, as it likely won't lead to anything concrete until he clears up his legal troubles. Not sure why he interfered in the match other than because it was the main event and he was the "last surprise" of the night, although I would find it pretty cool if they explained it by doing a call-back to his original TNA debut when he challenged AJ Styles for the X-Division Title, but now both are bonafide main eventers and maybe could feud over the World Title.
Also, Jeremy Borash is officially this generation's Mean Gene, and this pleases me greatly.
